I took some time the other day to compile all our reviews that compare The WASS Ethiopian Restaurant to Toronto's Ethiopian Restaurants.  I think as you read through this, you will see how far The WASS has come in just over 1.5 years.

"I am from Toronto and have gone to more than one Ethiopian restaurant here, a friend told me about Wass Ethiopian restaurant and we took a trip down to Hamilton for me to try it. All I can say is WOW!!! what an AMAZING place. . . the places in Toronto do not even compare. From the atmosphere, to the menu (with wonderful pictures I mig...ht add), to the prices, and most importantly the quality of the food. I am a vegetarian and ordered the veg combo, my friend and I shared and there was still some left over. It was very filling!! When comparing the quality of the food, I noticed that the stuff in Toronto was overcooked and it was hard to tell what was what. . . at Wass it was vibrantly colored and in the taste was fresh. I have to say that I would definitely say that the trip to Hamilton was well worth it. . . I will be spreading the word about this restaurant and will make the trip again. :) thank you!!!" "As a resident of Mississauga, my wife and I have no hesitations to make the drive to Hamilton to eat a Wass. We've tried many of the top rated Ethiopian restaurants in Toronto but keep going back to Wass. The price, service, and most of all, quality, freshness and taste of their food is simply unmatched. I'm drooling just thinking of their veggie combo and lamb tibs as I type this. I have yet to bring anyone who does not love the amazing food of Wass!!" (Urbanspoon)

"Wass is the best Ethiopian restaurant in Southern Ontario. My criteria? Taste, portion, price, and atmosphere. I was in Toronto at an Ethiopian restaurant that was rated one of the top restaurants in the city by a reputable magazine. I found that Wass was far superior in all categories! At Wass, you can count on a friendly conversation with the owners, and you are always assured of a quality meal for an amazing price. I recommend this place to everyone! Wass could possibly be one of the best things about Hamilton!" (Urbanspoon)

"Wass is probably the best Ethiopian restaurant in the GTA and beyond. I have visited Ethiopian restaurants in Toronto and they don't even come close to the taste and authenticity Wass offers. For a real Ethiopian experience this is where you want to go. Ethiopian music on the stereo, Ethiopian art and photos on the walls, frankincense filling the air with its smell, Ethiopian beer and honey wine and of course the tastiest Ethiopian food ever. Wass' injera is absolutely perfect and hardly gets soggy, the spicy red lentils are to die for, the cabbage and the yellow split peas are delicious and the lamb is amazing. Most Ethiopian restaurants in Toronto don't even offer Ethiopian beer or wine and they play western music. Hands down, Wass is the most authentic Ethiopian restaurant around." (Urbanspoon)

Have to say, it's nice to see some variety in Hamilton. Being from Toronto, it's hard to like the lack of culture in Hamilton sometimes. The owner Wassie served us and I must say he really put the personal touch on our dining experience. He took the time to educate us on the history of Ethiopian cuisine and show us how to properly order and eat. It was quite an education. We highly recommend trying it out if you are up for some adventure. The only thing we found negative was that the dining room is underground and there wasn't any natural light. (Restaurantica)

"awesome place - been just once for lunch but I'll give it full points for that. I was addicted to Ethiopian in Toronto so this place opening up is a boon. A real boon. For lunch we had the veg and meat specials, $8 a piece and lots of food. The injera is home-made, which you can't say for most places in TO. Had lamb and chicken dishes, plus cabbage, lentils, salad, collard greens, cottage cheese, and beets. The veggie dishes were fresh and the meats nicely stewed and spiced. Lunch for two, $20 including tip! The setting is okay, downstairs with a bar and a cozy alcove." (Yelp.ca)
